CP Bauteam built a new facility for the client that combines research, testing, and expert training across three floors. The space allocation plan includes laboratory areas, office spaces, training facilities, logistics zones, and a staff restaurant with a commercial kitchen, all of which were integrated into a comprehensive complex of high quality in both function and design.
The project was carried out under a collaborative cost-plus-fee model. The close integration of planning and bidding, along with the early incorporation of building services engineering, ensured an efficient project workflow with a high degree of schedule and cost certainty.
Particular emphasis was placed on the building services engineering for the S1 laboratories. Ventilation is provided by five systems with a total air volume of 72,600 m³/h. The process-related cooling required to condition the laboratory supply air is provided by a central chilled water system with a capacity of 486 kW. In addition, a VRV system with 110 kW and 125 indoor units ensures comfort conditioning for the remaining areas.
The total area of approximately 5,700 m² is divided into about 3,200 m² of laboratory space, 950 m² of office space, 600 m² of academic space, 500 m² of dining facilities, as well as ancillary and technical areas. Thanks to flexible work and space concepts, as well as phased construction, ongoing operations were maintained throughout the construction phase. The result is a sustainable facility with high functional and architectural quality that has successfully earned LEED Gold certification.
